Michelle Wong
Organist
Michelle Wong grew up in Malaysia and raised in a Christian family, she has been singing in a choir and accompanying church services since her childhood. Before studying church music at the Heidelberg University of Church Music, she completed a Bachelor’s degree in Chinese Literature at Peking University and a Master’s degree in International Development at the University of Bristol. After working as a church musician for several years, she decided to become a freelance organist and musician. In addition to regular organ lessons with Heinrich Walther, she attended masterclasses with Ton Koopman, Ludger Lohmann, Pieter van Dijk and Wolfgang Zerer. At the 30th Thuringian Organ Academy, she was one of the participants who took part in the ‘Concert of the Best’.
She has been working at the Lutheran World Federation in the area of liturgy, worship and music since 2015 (Malaysia). The most recent project is The Global Songbook. Together with the LWF Global Songbook curator team, she gave workshops and presented the Global Songbook in Amsterdam, Wittenberg and Copenhagen (as a guest musician of the Church of Sweden).
