Vorfreude auf die Ewigkeit | Anticipating Eternity
Introducing my new organ concert programme “Anticipating Eternity” with J.S.Bach’s music.

This programme is inspired by the J.S. Bach’s Aria – Ich freue mich auf meinen Tod/ I look forward to my death (BWV82 No.5).

1. Prelude and Fugue in E minor (BWV 548)
   The prelude reminds me of the opening chorus from the St Matthew Passion (BWV 244) and the Fugue theme is like the wedge that can open the grave. Jesus’ passion and resurrection is the foundation of the hope in eternity.
2. Erbarm dich mein, o Herre Gott (BWV 721)
   When my time on earth is coming to an end, all I need is God’s forgiveness. This piece is asking for God’s mercy.
3. Sonatina Sinfonia ‘Gottes Zeit ist die Allerbeste Zeit’ (BWV 106) – A. Guilmant
   Finally the time has arrived, I’m crossing the river to the other side.
4. Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme (BWV 645)
   And I hear angel calling “wake up!”
5. Kommst du nun, Jesu, vom Himmel herunter (BWV 650)
   According to the liturgical calendar, after the Eternity Sunday and the following Sunday is the first advent. This choral is an advent choral, to prepare my heart for advent. While I’m still living here on earth, Immanuel, God be with us.
